Elementary schools merged
BENGKULU: The Rejang Lebong Education Office has merged 98
elementary schools in the regency into 48 schools this academic
year due to lack of students.
The office chairman Tarmizi Usuludin said on Wednesday that
each school merged only obtained 30 students, far below the ideal
number of 250.
"We will choose the best headmasters to be installed in the
newly-merged 48 schools while the rest of the principals will be
transferred to elementary schools in other regencies," he said.
The former school buildings will be utilized for the regency
administration offices and centers for public activities, Tarmizi
said. --Antara
