Electronic mailing service

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned PT Pos Indonesia will launch an electronic mailing service in industrial estates and new satellite towns in Greater Jakarta next month.

Bekasi's post office head, Bambang Irian, said Saturday that Pos Indonesia would launch a pilot project in Bekasi, West Java.

"We have selected Lippo Cikarang as the first place for the pilot project," he said, adding that it would be expanded to Megalopolis Manunggal Cibitung, Jababeka and Lippo Karawaci.

The service will operate as a joint cooperation scheme, he said.

"Property operators are required to provide property (land or buildings) for the service, while Pos Indonesia will operate the system with computers, radio trunking and rotating vehicles," Bambang said. (icn)
