Electronic Documents and Vehicle Seized by KPK in Kuantan Singingi Sting Operation
Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have seized electronic evidence and one unit of a car following a sting operation (OTT) in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau.
“The team secured evidence in this caught-in-the-act event, specifically electronic evidence regarding financial transactions. Additionally, the team also secured one four-wheeled vehicle,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasottjo at the KPK Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (30/6).
Budi stated that the car was seized because it is suspected to have been an instrument of bribery by the parties involved in the sting operation. He noted that the operation is related to alleged bribery for a position within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government.
In this 14th KPK sting operation of 2026, the anti-corruption agency has arrested ten people in both Kuansing and Jakarta. Five of these ten individuals have been brought to the KPK Merah Putih Building for questioning.
Nevertheless, the KPK has requested the Regent of Kuansing, Suhardiman Amby, and the Regional Secretary of Kuansing, Zulkarnain, to surrender themselves. The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested during the operation, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
Previously, the KPK conducted its first sting operation of 2026 by arresting eight people between 9–10 January. This arrest concerned alleged bribery in tax inspections within the North Jakarta Medium Tax Service Office under the Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance, for the 2021–2026 period.
In the same month, the KPK arrested the Mayor of Madiun, Maidi, in the second sting, and the Regent of Pati, Sudewo, in the third. In February 2026, the KPK arrested the Head of the Banjarmasin Medium Tax Office in South Kalimantan during the fourth sting.
During the same month, the KPK also arrested the former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Rizal, who is currently serving as the Head of the West Sumatra Regional Customs Office, during the fifth sting. Additionally, the KPK arrested the Chairperson of the Depok District Court, I Wayan Eka Mariarta, and the Deputy Chairperson of the Depok District Court, Bambang S_Setyawan, during the sixth sting.
In March 2026, coinciding with Ramadan, the KPK arrested the Regent of Pekalongan, Fadia Arafiq, the Regent of Rejang Lebong, Muhammad Fikri Thobari, and the Regent of Cilacap, Syamsul Auliya Rachman, each in separate sting operations. In April 2026, the KPK arrested the Regent of Tulungagung, Gatut Sunu Wibowo, in the 10th sting. However, there were no KPK sting operations throughout May 2026.
In June 2026, the KPK conducted another sting operation which led to the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, surrendering himself. Subsequently, the KPK arrested the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison, in the 12th sting, and arrested an official from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) in the 13th sting, which was a follow-up to a previous operation.
