Electronic Documents and Vehicle Seized by KPK in Kuantan Singingi Sting Operation
Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have seized electronic evidence and a car from a sting operation (OTT) in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau. “The team secured evidence in this caught-in-the-act incident, namely electronic evidence of financial transactions. In addition, the team also secured a four-wheeled vehicle,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/6). Budi stated that the car was seized because it is suspected of being an instrument of bribery by the parties involved in the OTT. He said the operation was related to alleged bribery for a position within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. In this OTT, the 14th conducted by the KPK throughout 2026, the anti-corruption agency arrested ten people in Kuantan Singingi and Jakarta. Five of the ten individuals were subsequently brought in for questioning at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building. Meanwhile, the KPK has requested that Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby and Kuantan Singingi Regency Regional Secretary Zulkarnain surrender themselves. The KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the status of the parties caught in the operation in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). Previously, the KPK conducted its first OTT of 2026 by arresting eight people between 9–10 January. Those arrests were related to alleged bribery in tax audits at the North Jakarta Medium Tax Office within the Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance for the 2021–2026 period. In the same month, the KPK arrested Madiun Mayor Maidi in the second OTT and Pati Regent Sudewo in the third. In February 2026, the KPK arrested the Head of the Banjarmasin Medium Tax Office, South Kalimantan, in the fourth OTT. That same month, the KPK also arrested former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance, Rizal, who was serving as Head of the West Sumatra Customs Regional Office, in the fifth OTT. Furthermore, the KPK arrested the Head of the Depok District Court, I Wayan Eka Mariarta, and the Deputy Head of the Depok District Court, Bambang Setyawan, in the sixth OTT. During March 2026, which coincided with the fasting month of Ramadan, the KPK arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq, Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, and Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman. The three were arrested in separate sting operations. In April 2026, the KPK arrested Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo in the tenth OTT. However, there were no KPK sting operations throughout May 2026. In June 2026, the KPK resumed operations, leading to the surrender of Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim. The KPK then arrested Muara Enim Regent Edison in the twelfth OTT and a civil servant from the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia in the thirteenth OTT, which was a follow-up to a previous sting operation.
