Electrolux expands in Asia

JAKARTA (JP): Electrolux, a leading home appliance manufacturer, will launch a retail business system in Indonesia to market its products through its Indonesian partner PT Global Elux.

The Swedish company will invest US$50 million in the marketing system within the ASEAN countries over the next three years.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Brunei.

The company's senior vice president for the marketing and sales of household appliances in Asia, Stefan Schlyter, said here yesterday that Asia is a market with vast potential and that his company plans to hire and train local personnel.

He also said that within the next five years, Electrolux will establish five plants in Asia worth $100 million, one of which will be located in Indonesia.(icn)
