Electricity Tariffs Unchanged Until September 2026, Here Are the Prices per kWh for 13 Customer Groups

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has decided not to increase PT PLN (Persero) electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026, covering the period from July to September. The decision was taken to maintain national economic stability amid changing global conditions. The unchanged tariffs are also expected to preserve public purchasing power, support industrial competitiveness, and provide certainty for business actors.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia stated that maintaining electricity tariffs is part of the government’s commitment to safeguarding national economic conditions. “To maintain public purchasing power and support national economic stability, the government has decided that electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026 will remain unchanged,” Bahlil said in an official statement on Monday, 10 August 2026.

In accordance with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 7 of 2024, tariff adjustments for 13 non-subsidised customer groups are typically reviewed every three months. These adjustments are calculated based on four macroeconomic parameters: the rupiah exchange rate, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the Reference Coal Price (HBA). For the third quarter of 2026 tariff determination, the parameters used were the realisations from February to April 2026. During that period, the exchange rate was recorded at Rp16,959.32 per US dollar, the ICP stood at US$96.13 per barrel, inflation was 0.21 percent, and the HBA was US$70 per tonne in line with the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) policy for coal.

Although the formula indicated a potential for tariff changes, the government opted not to raise electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026. This decision was made to maintain national economic stability amidst dynamic global economic conditions. The policy also extends to 24 groups of subsidised customers, including social customers, low-income households, small businesses, small industries, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), who will also see no change in their electricity tariffs during this period.
