Electricity Tariffs Unchanged for Q3 2026, PLN Commits to Service Quality
The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has set electricity tariffs for state-owned PT PLN (Persero) for the third quarter (July–September period) of 2026 to remain unchanged. This policy is implemented to maintain national economic stability amid global dynamics.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia emphasised that this policy reflects the government’s commitment to preserving public purchasing power, supporting industrial competitiveness, and providing certainty for business actors. ‘In order to maintain public purchasing power and support national economic stability, the government has decided that electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026 will remain unchanged,’ Bahlil explained.
In accordance with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 7 of 2024, tariff adjustments for 13 non-subsidised customer groups are technically carried out every three months based on changes in four macroeconomic parameters: the rupiah exchange rate, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the Reference Coal Price (HBA). For the third quarter of 2026, the parameters used are the realised figures for the February–April 2026 period, which recorded an exchange rate of Rp 16,959.32 per USD, an ICP of USD 96.12 per barrel, inflation of 0.21 percent, and an HBA of USD 70 per tonne (in accordance with the Domestic Market Obligation/DMO coal policy). Although the formula indicated potential tariff changes, the government decided to maintain electricity tariffs to safeguard national economic stability.
Bahlil added that besides non-subsidised customers, this policy also applies to 24 subsidised customer groups, which are also confirmed to see no change in electricity tariffs. These include social customers, poor households, small businesses, small industries, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). ‘The government is committed to providing reliable, affordable, and equitable electricity. This fixed tariff policy is part of efforts to maintain economic stability while ensuring sustainable electricity services,’ Bahlil stated.
Meanwhile, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo expressed the company’s readiness to implement the third quarter 2026 tariff policy and its commitment to delivering reliable electricity supply and increasingly high-quality services to the public. ‘We appreciate the government’s move to maintain stable electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026 and are ready to implement this policy. PLN is committed to continuously maintaining the reliability of electricity supply and service quality, so that the government’s policy can be directly felt by the wider community and serve as a driver for the domestic economy,’ Darmawan said.
