Electricity Tariffs for Q3 2026 Remain Unchanged to Protect Public Purchasing Power

The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has decided that electricity tariffs for PT PLN (Persero) will remain unchanged for the third quarter of 2026, covering the period from July to September. This strategic move is intended to maintain national economic stability, protect public purchasing power, and provide business certainty amidst fluctuating global economic dynamics.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the decision is a tangible commitment by the government to support the competitiveness of the industrial sector. “To maintain public purchasing power and support national economic stability, the government has decided that electricity tariffs for Q3 2026 will remain unchanged,” Bahlil said in an official statement.

Based on Ministerial Regulation No. 7 of 2024, tariff adjustments for 13 non-subsidised customer groups are typically evaluated every three months, considering changes in key macroeconomic parameters such as the Rupiah exchange rate, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the Reference Coal Price (HBA). Despite potential fluctuations in these parameters, the government opted to hold tariffs steady.

Bahlil added that the fixed tariff policy also applies to 24 subsidised customer groups, including social groups, low-income households, small businesses, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo welcomed the government’s decision, stating that the company is fully prepared to implement the policy. He affirmed PLN’s commitment to maintaining a reliable electricity supply to support economic activity across the country.
