The government has assured that electricity tariffs for April 2026 will remain unchanged. The April 2026 electricity prices refer to the tariffs for the second quarter of 2026 (April, May, and June). Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tri Winarno, stated that this decision was made after considering various factors, including the latest economic conditions. He emphasised that the government deliberately held the electricity tariffs for the second quarter of 2026 to avoid burdening the public, especially as needs increase ahead of Lebaran. Under the regulations, electricity tariffs for non-subsidised customers are evaluated every three months. Adjustments are based on several macroeconomic indicators, including the rupiah exchange rate, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the coal reference price (HBA). Although calculations indicate that electricity tariffs could potentially change, the government chose to maintain them. The aim is not only to safeguard public purchasing power but also to support industrial competitiveness amid global economic uncertainties. It should be noted that electricity prices for prepaid and postpaid customers are the same according to the power category. The difference lies only in the payment system.
