PT PLN (Persero) has confirmed that electricity supply in the Java region began to recover gradually starting Sunday (21/6). This recovery follows a disruption to the electrical system that triggered rolling blackouts, disrupting public activities the previous week. PLN Managing Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the current condition of the electrical system is showing an improving trend. According to him, rolling blackouts have been successfully minimised as the primary energy supply returns to normal. “Starting yesterday, Sunday, the condition of the electrical system on Java began to improve, and rolling blackouts were successfully minimised,” said Darmawan, as quoted by Antara on Monday (22/6). Darmawan explained that the primary energy supply, which meets the specifications required by power plants, has now gradually normalised. This recovery process covers all generating units, both those owned by PLN and those of its partners or independent power producers (IPP). As an evaluation measure, PLN is committed to carrying out comprehensive improvements from upstream to downstream. On the upstream side, PLN is overhauling the governance of the primary energy supply chain. Meanwhile, on the downstream side, the focus is directed at strengthening the reliability of power plant infrastructure to maintain long-term system stability. PLN management also ensures that strict supervision is carried out 24 hours a day to mitigate the risk of similar disruptions in the future. All technical teams have been deployed to monitor and map out strategic measures to maintain electricity reliability. For the inconvenience caused over the past week, Darmawan issued an open apology to all affected members of the public. “Once again, we apologise profusely for the inconvenience experienced by the community due to the disruption last week that caused rolling blackouts,” he concluded.
