Jakarta (ANTARA) - The electricity supply for some customers in Cipayung experienced disruptions following the theft of PLN cables in the Munjul area, Cipayung, East Jakarta.

“A theft of cables from electrical assets occurred in the Munjul area, Cipayung, on Thursday morning. As a result of this incident, the electricity supply to some customers around the location was temporarily disrupted,” said Feri Asmoro Hermanto, Manager of the PLN Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Ciracas, when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

Upon receiving the information, the company immediately deployed officers to conduct inspections and handle the situation at the scene.

“Officers found that low-voltage network cables were missing and proceeded to replace the materials. Repairs were completed and the electricity supply returned to normal at 07:36 WIB,” explained Feri.

He urged the public to help protect electrical assets and to report any suspicious activities immediately.

“Report if you find suspicious activity around the network or electrical facilities. PLN is also coordinating with relevant parties to follow up on this incident,” he added.

The theft began when residents in the Cipayung area experienced a power outage. Upon investigation, suspects were found acting at the substation.

Residents who caught them immediately shouted at the suspects, causing the perpetrators to flee in a four-wheeled vehicle.

The suspects fled towards Alternatif Cibubur, Ciracas. However, despite a pursuit, the perpetrators managed to escape.

“There has been no official report yet, but we have received information from the Cipayung Police Sub-district Community Development Officer,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation of Cipayung Police, AKP Nasruki.
