Electricity in the Glodok area, West Jakarta, has been restored after being out for more than four hours, beginning at 10:30 WIB. Based on observations by CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (23/4/2026), power returned around 15:15 WIB. However, not all shophouses or shops recovered immediately. It is known that electricity was fully restored around 15:50 WIB.

Traders, who were previously anxious due to the power outage, are now returning to normal operations, although the restoration occurred close to closing time. Fadi, one of the security officers in the Glodok Jaya area, revealed that power gradually returned at 15:15 WIB.

“It started coming back on around 15:15 WIB, but not everything was restored; it was gradual,” said Fadi when met by CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (23/4/2026).

He hopes such an incident does not happen again because it causes anxiety among the traders.

“Well, when the lights go out, it’s tough here because everything stops, the fans stop, so it’s hot; earlier, many were fanning themselves with a sheet of cardboard,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Lim, a trader providing electronic repair services, is grateful that power was restored around 15:00 WIB. During the outage, he could not carry out activities because he needed electricity. Moreover, he could not afford to use a generator because diesel was expensive.

“I’m grateful it’s back on, even though it was more than four hours; when the power was out, I couldn’t do anything, and using a generator is expensive with diesel prices so high,” said Lim.

He also hopes such an incident does not recur because it is very disturbing.

“Well, anyway, it shouldn’t happen again; this is Jakarta, I lose out if the power keeps going out,” he stated.
