Electricity Pole Fire in Cipayung, Depok, Suspected Caused by Short Circuit
An electricity pole on Jalan Rawa Geni in Cipayung, Depok, West Java, caught fire on Monday (15 June 2026) at 19:25 WIB. Traffic in the surrounding area was temporarily affected.
“Traffic was affected. It was temporarily halted during the extinguishing operation because the pole is located on the roadside,” said Tessy Haryati, Head of Operational Control at the Depok City Fire and Rescue Service, when contacted on Monday.
She stated there was no power outage resulting from the fire. The state electricity company PLN immediately took over handling after the fire was extinguished. “Alhamdulillah, the public understood (about the traffic disruption). There was no (power outage). After we turned back, it was immediately handled by PLN,” she said.
Tessy confirmed there were no casualties in the incident. The fire is suspected to have been triggered by an electrical installation failure. “That is correct, there were no casualties, suspected electrical installation failure. I was at the location when the fire started. It did not spread to residents’ houses; it could be quickly localised,” she said.
One fire engine and three personnel from the Cipayung Unit were deployed to handle the incident. The fire was successfully extinguished by 19:55 WIB.
