JAKARTA — Complaints about rising electricity bills have been circulating on social media in recent days. A number of customers report that their monthly electricity bills have increased compared to previous periods despite perceiving no significant changes in their household electronic equipment usage.

To identify the cause of bill increases, customers can independently monitor electricity consumption through the PLN Mobile application. This application provides features allowing customers to view detailed electricity usage history and token purchases.

For postpaid customers, the first step is to open the PLN Mobile application and log in using the registered mobile number. After that, select the “Token and Payments” or “Usage History” menu to view bills and monthly electricity consumption history.

Through this feature, customers can compare electricity usage in the current month with previous months. If there is a surge in kilowatt hour (kWh) consumption, customers can investigate potential causes, such as longer air conditioning (AC) usage, addition of electronic devices, or equipment remaining connected to power despite not being in use.

Meanwhile, for prepaid customers, PLN Mobile provides information on token purchase history and estimated electricity usage. Customers can check whether token consumption has increased compared to previous periods.

In addition to the application, customers can utilise the SwaCAM feature for postpaid customers using self-recording meter systems. This feature enables customers to directly upload photographs of their meter readings through PLN Mobile so that electricity usage can be monitored more accurately.

Should customers discover abnormal consumption surges, PLN recommends checking the condition of household electrical installations and ensuring no devices are experiencing current leaks or remaining switched on without awareness.

Customers can also contact PLN customer service through the PLN Mobile application or PLN Contact Centre 123 for further explanation regarding bills and electricity consumption recorded in the system.

By utilising the electricity consumption monitoring features in PLN Mobile, customers can control energy usage more effectively whilst identifying factors causing electricity bills to increase.
