Electrical Substation Fire Erupts in Kalideres, West Jakarta
A fire broke out at an electrical substation on Jalan Peta Barat Number 35, RT 3/RW 7 Pegadungan, Kalideres, West Jakarta, on Monday. Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Syaiful Kahfi, confirmed the fire was caused by an electrical phenomenon. “The temporary suspected cause is an electrical phenomenon,” Syaiful said. The department received the fire report at 08:22 WIB and immediately deployed personnel to the scene to extinguish it. “The operation concluded at 08:35 WIB,” Syaiful stated. He confirmed there were no casualties in the incident. “Zero casualties,” he concluded. Viral videos on social media showed the substation fire emitting crackling sounds, indicative of an electrical fault. Thick smoke and flames were clearly visible to nearby residents. As of now, there has been no further statement from the state electricity company PLN regarding the incident.
