Electrical fault suspected as cause of material shop fire in Kuningan

The South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat Jaksel) has stated that an electrical fault is the suspected cause of a fire at a building material shop on Jalan Karbela Barat No.9, Kuningan, Karet Kuningan, Setiabudi District. “The suspected cause is an electrical phenomenon,” said South Jakarta Gulkarmat Head Asril Rizal in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to the building owner, when the fire broke out, a schoolchild saw it and shouted about a fire on the second floor of the building. The owner only became aware after being alerted and attempted to extinguish the fire with water, assisted by residents. “However, because the fire had grown quite large, it was difficult to extinguish and they called the nearest fire station,” he said. A total of 135 personnel from the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service were deployed to extinguish the fire at the material shop on Jalan Karbela Barat No.9, RT 04/RW 02, Kuningan, Karet Kuningan, Setiabudi District, on Tuesday afternoon. Gulkarmat Jaksel received the report and departed for the scene at 2:25 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. Firefighting operations continued until the fire was successfully localised at 7:03 p.m. Western Indonesia Time.
