Electric Vehicles Dominate Sales Trends at IIMS 2026
Jakarta — Electric vehicles emerged as one of the key growth drivers for sales at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2026. During the exhibition held 15-25 February 2026, electrified vehicle sales increased significantly compared to the previous year.
Organisers recorded total transactions during the show reaching Rp 9.5 trillion, an increase compared to the previous year’s exhibition which recorded approximately Rp 8 trillion in transactions.
“Visitors exceeded half a million, and total transactions have reached Rp 9.5 trillion, surpassing last year,” said Daswar in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
In terms of sales, electric vehicles became the segment with the most prominent growth. Project Manager of IIMS 2026, Rudi MF, noted that electric car sales increased more than 30 per cent compared to the previous year’s exhibition.
“For vehicles with internal combustion engines (ICE), there was an increase of around 15 per cent, whilst the notably high growth came from electric vehicles (EV) which rose by around 30 per cent compared to last year,” said Rudi.
He added that the contribution of electric vehicles to total transaction value continues to increase. Whereas the previous year was in the region of 36 per cent, the current composition has now exceeded 40 per cent of the total transaction value of the exhibition.
In addition to electric cars, increases also occurred in two-wheeler sales. Motorcycle sales during the exhibition rose approximately 65 per cent compared to the previous year.
