Electric Vehicle Users During Eid Exodus Increase, 4,769 Public Charging Stations Prepared
PT PLN (Persero) has ensured the readiness of electric vehicle infrastructure to handle the Eid al-Fitr homecoming traffic in 2026. In total, 4,769 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) have been prepared across various regions in Indonesia to serve electric vehicle (EV) users. PLN’s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that all charging facilities are in optimal condition, particularly on strategic routes used by travellers. PLN projects that the number of electric vehicle users during this year’s homecoming will reach more than 23,000 units, an increase of around 60 per cent compared to the previous Eid period. To anticipate this surge, PLN, along with its partners, has expanded the SPKLU network. Currently, a total of 4,769 units are available at 3,097 locations throughout Indonesia, marking an annual increase of about 70 per cent. “Currently, the average distance between SPKLUs is around 22 kilometres. This means EV users do not need to worry about running out of power midway through their journey because charging infrastructure is widely available,” said Darmawan. Specifically on the Sumatra, Java, and Bali homecoming routes, PLN has prepared 1,681 SPKLU units spread across 994 points. Of these, 284 units are located on toll roads, while the remaining 1,203 units are on non-toll routes. This readiness is also supported by more than 5,000 personnel on standby to maintain optimal SPKLU operations during the homecoming period. As an additional precautionary measure, PLN has prepared 15 mobile SPKLU units at several toll exit points. These facilities are intended to assist EV users needing emergency charging. In addition, the AntreEV feature is available, allowing users to monitor SPKLU queues in real-time. “We also encourage the public to utilise the Trip Planner and AntreEV features on the PLN Mobile app, so that Eid homecoming trips with electric vehicles can be planned better and more comfortably,” said Darmawan. For EV users needing assistance, PLN provides 24-hour service through the PLN Mobile app or the WhatsApp hotline at 0877-71112-123.
