PT PLN (Persero) has confirmed the readiness of electric vehicle charging infrastructure along the return route from Java to Bali ahead of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr 2026.

Adi Priyanto, Director of Retail and Commerce at PLN, conducted direct inspections of numerous Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) along the Surabaya to Denpasar, Bali corridor to ensure the electric vehicle charging service is prepared to serve the public. The inspection was carried out alongside PLN’s Retail and Commerce Directorate staff, reviewing several SPKLU locations at rest areas and strategic points along the main routes to Bali.

Adi Priyanto stated that the inspection activity represents PLN’s commitment to ensuring all electric vehicle charging infrastructure is in optimal condition ahead of increased public mobility during the Eid holiday return period. “We want to ensure directly that all SPKLUs along the Surabaya to Bali corridor are operating properly and ready to serve electric vehicle users. The trend of electric vehicle usage continues to increase, including for long-distance travel during the Eid holiday season,” he said.

According to him, PLN continues to strengthen the readiness of electric vehicle infrastructure, particularly on strategic routes that serve as primary travel paths for the public during extended holiday periods.

Nationally, PLN and its partners have provided 4,769 EV chargers distributed across 3,078 locations throughout Indonesia to support the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem. The infrastructure comprises various types of charging, ranging from Ultra Fast Charging, Fast Charging, Medium Charging to Standard Charging, tailored to the needs of electric vehicle users.

To support the 2026 Eid holiday return period, PLN has prepared 1,681 SPKLU units distributed across 994 locations along the return route in the Sumatra, Java and Bali regions. All SPKLUs are supported by more than 5,000 standby personnel who work 24 hours in three shifts to ensure optimal service to electric vehicle users.

In addition to ensuring infrastructure readiness, PLN has also deployed mobile SPKLUs and emergency charging units to address potential emergencies that electric vehicle users may encounter during travel. “We have also prepared mobile SPKLUs and emergency units that can move quickly if electric vehicle users encounter problems during travel. With this support, we want to ensure EV user travel during the return period remains safe and comfortable,” Adi said.

Adi added that PLN continues to develop an integrated electric vehicle ecosystem through the PLN Mobile application. Through this application, electric vehicle users can easily find the nearest SPKLU location, plan trips using the Trip Planner feature, and monitor charging queues in real time through the AntreEV feature.

“We want to ensure the experience of electric vehicle users becomes increasingly comfortable. PLN Mobile is an important part of this ecosystem as it helps users plan trips and access charging services more efficiently,” Adi said.

PLN is also strengthening the development of SPKLU Centers at various strategic points to ensure long-distance electric vehicle travel can be conducted more comfortably. Currently, the distance between SPKLU Centers on the Trans-Java route has been reduced from approximately 300 kilometres to approximately 150 to 200 kilometres, making it increasingly convenient for EV users to travel between cities.

Adi emphasised that readiness of electric vehicle infrastructure forms part of PLN’s commitment to supporting the national energy transition whilst providing the best service to the public.

“The Eid holiday return period represents one test of the readiness of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Indonesia. PLN is committed to ensuring EV users can travel home comfortably, without worrying about the availability of charging facilities,” Adi concluded.
