Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Expand on Merak and Cipali Toll Roads for 2026 Ramadan Holiday Travel
Lengthy journeys using electric vehicles during the 2026 Ramadan holiday period are set to become increasingly convenient as charging facilities multiply along toll roads.
Astra Infra has installed Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) at several rest areas on toll road sections it operates, including the Tangerang–Merak Toll, Cikopo–Palimanan (Cipali) Toll, and Jombang–Mojokerto Toll.
Chief Technical Officer of Astra Infra, Rinaldi, stated that these facilities have been prepared to support electric vehicle users during their holiday journeys.
He advised electric vehicle users to prepare their vehicles and ensure sufficient battery capacity before commencing long journeys. Additionally, holiday travellers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with SPKLU locations available along their route to ensure smooth travel.
Several SPKLU points are available for electric vehicle users at toll rest areas:
Tangerang–Merak Toll: Merak direction and Jakarta direction
Cikopo–Palimanan (Cipali) Toll: Cirebon direction and Jakarta direction
Jombang–Mojokerto Toll: Surabaya direction
Users need not worry about incurring additional charges as the toll payment system operates on a closed system basis. Under this system, vehicles can exit the toll to charge at the nearest SPKLU, then re-enter the toll and continue their journey without additional charges provided they remain on the same route.
