Electric Motorcycles Can Now Charge at Euro Type 2 Public EV Stations
The development of electric vehicles is now focusing on battery charging convenience. One of the connector standards used in electric vehicle charging facilities is Euro Type 2. This connector allows vehicles to connect to public charging devices that provide the standard, giving users a charging option beyond household electricity sources.
For four-wheeled electric vehicles, the Type 2 connector is already fairly common. For two-wheeled vehicles, however, ports compatible with the standard have not been widely adopted. The ability of electric motorcycles to use Type 2 therefore offers an alternative charging method when users are away from home and find a public charging station with a suitable connector.
This configuration has been applied to the United RX6000, produced by PT Terang Dunia Internusa Tbk (UNTD). The company claims the RX6000 is the first electric motorcycle in Indonesia to feature a charging port compatible with Euro Type 2 public charging stations.
With this port, the RX6000 can be charged from a household electricity supply with a power requirement of 1,300 VA to 4,400 VA. The motorcycle also supports charging via Euro Type 2 charging stations and ultra charging stations.
“We present the RX6000 as an electric motorcycle offering a combination of performance, dual-purpose capability and charging flexibility. Compatibility with Euro Type 2 public charging stations is one of the advantages we offer to provide a more practical riding experience for users, while supporting the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia,” said Henry Mulyadi, Director of PT Terang Dunia Internusa Tbk, in an official statement on Thursday (13/8).
In terms of charging, the RX6000 uses a direct charging system and supports fast charging. Charging the battery from 0% to 80% is claimed to take around 1.5 hours. The system is equipped with an auto cut-off feature and a cooling fan.
Beyond its charging capability, the RX6000 carries an All-Terrain E-Performance concept with a dual-purpose character. Its design takes inspiration from trail motorcycles combined with an urban sport-bike touch. The riding position is upright with a relatively short handlebar reach.
The motorcycle uses an electric drive with a top power of 6,000 watts and a maximum torque of 55 Nm at 550 rpm. Its top speed reaches up to 100 kilometres per hour, while its range is claimed to be up to 120 kilometres on a single charge.
Power comes from a 72V 54Ah lithium battery. For charging from a household electricity supply, the motorcycle can use power from 1,300 VA to 4,400 VA.
The maximum speed and range figures may vary depending on load, battery level, road elevation, temperature conditions, battery capacity and other usage factors.
The dual-purpose character of the RX6000 is also supported by its chassis configuration. The motorcycle uses dual-purpose tyres measuring 110/80-17 at the front and 130/80-17 at the rear.
The front suspension uses an USD model, while the rear relies on a direct-mount monoshock. Ground clearance reaches 225 mm, providing more room when the motorcycle passes over uneven road surfaces.
With this configuration, the RX6000 is aimed not only at urban mobility but also at journeys over more varied road conditions. The United RX6000 is currently marketed at Rp69.9 million on the road (OTR) in Jakarta.
