Election security too high: Agum
JAKARTA: Vice presidential candidate nominated by the United
Development Party (PPP) Agum Gumelar complained on Thursday of
special protection from the National Police for presidential and
vice presidential candidates.
Agum said the excessive protection could distance the
candidates from their prospective supporters.
"The country's future leaders must be given protection, but it
has to be done without separating them from the people. The
candidates need to mingle with the people," he told a seminar
here. -- JP
