The Working Group for the Election Bill of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has included developments in information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) as one of the key issues to be discussed in the drafting of the Election Bill. This discussion has been included in the list of strategic issues agreed upon by the Working Group.

The Chairman of Commission II of the DPR RI, Muhammad Rifqinizamy Karsundja, stated that there are several crucial issues that will be the focus of the Working Group during the discussion of the Election Bill.

“These have already been identified and will be attached later. There are crucial points ranging from A to J,” said Rifqinizamy at the Senayan parliamentary complex on Monday (5/10/2026).

He noted that the issues discussed include the electoral system, election design, and the enforcement of election laws. Additionally, the Working Group will address issues arising from technological advancements.

“The crucial points to be discussed range from the electoral system, election design, and election law enforcement, to other issues, both those already being discussed in the public sphere and those that have not yet been addressed,” he said.

One issue specifically highlighted by Rifqinizamy is the use of information technology and AI in the administration of future elections.

“This includes the intervention of information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in our future elections,” he added.

Rifqinizamy stated that this list of strategic issues will serve as the basis for the Working Group to seek input from various stakeholders. Commission II intends to not only invite relevant parties but also conduct direct field visits.

“What is clear is that we have already included this in the agenda,” he concluded.
