Elected as AAUI Chairman for 2026-2030, Budi Herawan Focuses on HR and Technology

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Budi Herawan, elected as Chairman of the Indonesian General Insurance Association (AAUI) for the 2026-2030 period, stated that his leadership team will focus on strengthening and developing human resources (HR) and digitalising technology to enhance the performance of the national general insurance industry. “We will carry out the improvements that have not yet been optimal so far, especially in the HR sector, because our main target is to advance in the ASEAN countries. This is a priority; at least we can enter the top four first,” said Budi Herawan in Jakarta on Thursday. He explained that strengthening HR is necessary to optimise various opportunities amid increasingly uncertain economic conditions due to geopolitical turmoil. Meanwhile, digitalisation development is crucial for improving operational efficiency in the insurance industry. His side is currently collaborating with the Chinese company Peak3 to develop a general insurance information database platform in Indonesia. In addition, several other issues that are also a concern in this AAUI management period include fulfilling the minimum capital requirement, targeted to be met no later than 31 December 2026, and the implementation of Financial Accounting Standards Statement (PSAK) 117. Budi requested the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to provide relaxation regarding the implementation of the new financial standard, considering that many insurance companies are still adjusting to the new guidelines. He stated that these adjustments have caused several insurance companies to face difficulties in submitting their Annual Income Tax Notification Letters (SPT PPh). His side is still awaiting guidance from the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) regarding this matter. “Learning from countries that have implemented PSAK 117 first, they also struggled, and after two years, they were able to survive,” said Budi Herawan. The VIII AAUI Congress appointed Budi Herawan as the elected AAUI Chairman for the 2026-2030 period by acclamation and simultaneously acted as the sole formateur in forming the management structure for the 2026-2030 period.
