Elderly Woman in Malang Bound by Robbers, Car Stolen
A house near Sumberpucung Market in Malang Regency, East Java, was targeted by robbers. The homeowner, a 62-year-old elderly woman who was in the house at the time, was bound by the perpetrators. The incident occurred on Sunday (21/6/2026) at 01:00 WIB when the victim was alone at home. A Honda Jazz car was stolen by the perpetrators. The victim’s daughter, Linda, recounted the chronology of the incident while speaking on Suara Surabaya Radio. She revealed that at the time of the incident, one door had been deliberately left unlocked. The door was not locked because her mother was waiting for Linda’s younger sibling, who had not yet returned home after going out for a Saturday night outing. The perpetrator managed to enter the house through that door and immediately incapacitated the victim. The victim was gagged and bound using a plastic bag so she could not scream for help or see the perpetrator’s face. ‘Mother was alone at home, she is already 62 years old. During the incident, mother was bound with a plastic bag,’ Linda told the Suara Surabaya Radio broadcaster. The perpetrator then made off with the Honda Jazz car that was parked in the boarding house area in front of the victim’s house. She admitted to being shocked because over the past decade, the parking area had always been safe and this was the first time it had been robbed. ‘We have owned that car for 10 years and it was always safe parked in that garage. Why now must we suffer this misfortune,’ Linda fumed.
