Elderly Woman Found Weak in Tabanan After Two-Day Search
After a two-day search, Ni Wayan Natri, also known as Mbah Mardi, 70, from Banjar Dinas Tegal Kontang, Lumbung Kauh Village, West Selemadeg District, Tabanan, was found alive on Monday (26 October 2026). The elderly woman was weak when she was found beneath a water channel serving the Tukad Balian irrigation system, about one kilometre from her home.
West Selemadeg Police chief AKP I Putu Eka Rai Putra said Natri had been reported missing after leaving home at around 5am on Saturday (24 October 2026). The search involved officers from West Selemadeg Police, the Tabanan Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and local residents.
According to police, Natri had a history of confusion associated with her age. After she went missing, her family searched for her near the house, including across nearby fields.
“During the initial search, the family and residents found only the belongings Natri had taken with her. As her whereabouts remained unknown, the family reported the incident to West Selemadeg Police,” Rai Putra said.
Officers on duty from West Selemadeg Police and local residents searched fields and residents’ gardens. However, the search had to be suspended because of rain and the approaching evening.
West Selemadeg Police then coordinated with the Tabanan Police Mobile Brigade unit and the Tabanan BPBD to conduct a joint search.
“After two days of searching, the missing woman was finally found on Monday at around 10.15am in Pangkung Selonding, beneath a water channel serving the Tukad Balian irrigation system in Banjar Dinas Tegal Kontang, Lumbung Kauh Village,” Rai Putra said.
Although found alive, Natri was reported to be weak. She was taken home for an initial examination by the village midwife, then brought to West Selemadeg Community Health Centre for observation.
