Elderly Woman Dies After Motorcycle Taxi She Was On Is Struck by Trailer Truck in North Jakarta
An elderly woman identified as ZN, 70, died at the scene after the motorcycle taxi she was travelling on was struck by a trailer truck on Jalan Raya Pelabuhan, Koja, North Jakarta (Jakarta Utara). Police said the victim was run over by the left front wheel of the truck.
“Ms ZN sustained injuries to her torso and legs and died at the scene. The body was subsequently sent to RSCM,” said AKP Edy Wibowo, head of the Laka Lantas (Gakkum) unit of the Jakarta North Metro Police, in a statement on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
The crash occurred around 16:10 local time on Friday, 6 March. Police said the motorcycle taxi driver, ST, sustained several injuries.
“The victim was riding a Yamaha Mio motorcycle, registration B-6827-PPJ; ST sustained abrasions to the leg and was treated on site,” Edy said.
Edy added that the trailer truck, driven by DA, initially travelled from east to west along the Mbah Priok Flyover. The trailer then clipped ST’s motorcycle as it reached Jalan Raya Pelabuhan, which was travelling in the same direction on its left side.
“As a result of the traffic collision, the rider sustained injuries and the passenger was run over by the truck’s left front wheel, dying at the scene with the vehicle damaged,” he said.
Edy said ZN’s body had been taken to RSCM. He said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
“The cause of the crash is still under investigation,” he added.
