Elderly Man Who Blocked 'Strait of Hormuz Sidokare' in Sidoarjo Abandons Legal Route
The action of blocking an alternative road in Sidokare Asri Housing, Sidoarjo District, went viral on social media with the nickname ‘Strait of Hormuz Sidokare’. The perpetrator of the blockade, an elderly man with the initials MH, had considered taking legal steps but ultimately chose to cancel them. According to detikJatim, MH previously came under the spotlight from netizens after blocking access to a road commonly used by nearby residents. The closure was deemed to hinder mobility, even forcing several road users to take detours and face the risk of vehicle scratches while passing through. Feeling that his reputation had been tarnished due to the virality of the incident, MH had visited the Sidoarjo Police Resort Headquarters to consult on the possibility of pursuing legal channels. However, that decision was ultimately cancelled. MH admitted to choosing to resolve the matter in a familial manner to maintain harmony in the residential environment. “I did think about pursuing the legal route, but I cancelled it. I want to live well in society,” said MH when met by detikJatim on Tuesday (7/4/2026). According to him, he understands that the spread of harmful content on social media can have legal consequences. Nevertheless, he chose to yield for the common interest. “Yielding doesn’t mean losing. I’m yielding for the common good,” he added.
