Elderly man suspected of stabbing ex-wife at child's wedding reception in North Jakarta over revenge motive
JAKARTA - Tanjung Priok Police Station suspects the motive behind the elderly man E (67) stabbing his ex-wife ES (55) was revenge.
Police are still investigating the suspect’s motive for deliberately stabbing his ex-wife during their child’s wedding reception on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
“Initial suspicion points to revenge. The suspect carried a letter written the morning before attending the wedding reception,” said Tanjung Priok Police Station Reskrim Unit Head AKP Handam Samudro when contacted by phone on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
“During the handshake on the reception stage, the suspect suddenly took a knife he had apparently prepared in advance and stored in his bag, stabbing the victim once in the abdomen,” Handam added.
The suspect was immediately apprehended following the incident.
“Building security personnel called the Tanjung Priok Police Station Reskrim duty officer, leading to the suspect and evidence being secured for further investigation,” Handam said.
