Elderly Man Found Dead Bound with Wire in Tangerang, Believed Deceased for Four Days
An elderly man identified by the initial S (75) was found dead, bound with wire, at Taman Pramuka in Tangerang City. Police estimate the victim had been dead for four days. “It is suspected the victim died four days ago,” said Tangerang Police Chief Kompol Suyatno in a statement on Wednesday (18/6/2026). Suyatno stated that none of the victim’s belongings were missing. His mobile phone and some cash were found on the body. “The victim’s belongings were still intact, nothing was missing,” he added. The exact cause of death remains unknown. Police have taken the body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination. “The body was taken to the Tangerang Regency Regional General Hospital,” he continued. The body was discovered on Wednesday afternoon, 17 June 2026, at Taman Pramuka on Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Sukaasih Village, Tangerang District, Tangerang City. The body was found after witnesses noticed a foul smell in the area. “According to statements from witnesses Kaswan and Kasudin, owners of a rice stall near the crime scene, they detected an unpleasant odour from around Taman Pramuka,” he said. The two witnesses then searched for the source of the smell and were shocked to find a body hanging from a boundary fence post. The discovery of the body at 4:45 p.m. Western Indonesian Time was then reported to the police. Officers arrived at the scene to identify the body and process the crime scene. “The cause of death is still under investigation,” he concluded.
