Elderly Man Charged with Rape of Seven-Year-Old Girl in East Timor Regency

A seven-year-old girl, identified as M, was allegedly raped by an elderly man, KA (66), whilst searching for firewood behind her home. The sexual assault occurred in Kota Kefamenanu district, Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province.

“Indeed, the incident took place in the teak forest behind the victim’s home,” said Police Relations Chief AKP Anselmus Pera of the TTU Regional Police to detikBali on Sunday (31 May 2026).

According to Anselmus, the assault began when M was playing with several peers in her home courtyard on Sunday (24 May 2026). Shortly afterwards, one of her friends suggested going to collect firewood in a teak forest approximately 20 metres from her house.

M and four friends hurried to the location. Upon arrival, they separated to gather firewood. Suddenly, KA appeared from behind and pushed M to the ground.

At the same time, KA proceeded to rape M. After committing the assault, KA immediately fled the scene. M then returned home crying.

She subsequently reported the incident to her mother. The family, unable to accept what had happened, immediately went to the TTU Regional Police to lodge a formal report on Monday (25 May 2026).

Following the report, police conducted a medical examination of M and took her to Kefamenanu General Hospital for medical treatment after she complained of abdominal pain and pain in her genital area during the police examination.

“However, the victim was not admitted for inpatient care at that time. We have received the report and examined both the accused and the complainant. We will provide updates on the case’s progress,” said Anselmus.
