Elderly Kidnapper in PIK Enlisted Gym Security Guard as Accomplice
Police have disclosed that the man with the initials CW (31), suspected of masterminding the kidnapping of an elderly man identified as GH (70) in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area of North Jakarta, works as a trader. “His occupation is self-employed, trading,” said Penjaringan Metro Police Chief AKBP Agta Bhuwana Putra when contacted on Monday (15/6).
In the kidnapping, CW enlisted his friend FAP (26). The two are known to have met at a fitness centre, where FAP worked as a security guard. “The second perpetrator is a security officer who guards the gym,” Agta stated.
Agta also revealed that during the operation, CW promised FAP a job and even a car if the kidnapping was successful. “He was promised employment by him, and was to be given a car,” he said.
Furthermore, Agta disclosed that the kidnapping was planned by CW out of resentment because his relationship with the victim’s child was not approved. Agta explained that the victim rejected the relationship because the perpetrator CW already had a child and a wife.
“It is suspected to be due to a romantic issue or a relationship that was not approved by the victim. Suspect CW, as the mastermind, wanted to bring and meet directly with the victim for personal interests related to CKH, the victim’s child, because of the family’s rejection of the relationship,” he stated.
Both perpetrators have now been named as suspects and are detained. They are charged under Article 17 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 18 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 450 of the Criminal Code and Article 471 of the Criminal Code.
