Elderly Hajj Pilgrim from Aceh Dies on Plane During Landing at SIM Airport
Aisyah Abdullah Nanggroe (92), a hajj pilgrim from Aceh, died on board a Garuda Indonesia aircraft as it was preparing to land at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport in Aceh Besar on Monday (22/6) at approximately 10.20 WIB. The deceased was an elderly pilgrim from East Aceh Regency who was part of flight group 07 BTJ (Aceh).
According to Media Indonesia’s investigation, shortly after the plane took off from Madinah Airport, the elderly pilgrim showed no specific signs of distress. Her condition was considered stable, and she was not experiencing any health complaints or undergoing medical treatment.
As the aircraft was about to land, or while it was over the sea near Aceh, the condition of the guest of Allah, who had just completed the hajj pilgrimage, changed, and she appeared to suffer from shortness of breath. The medical team for flight group 07 reportedly provided emergency assistance and administered a breathing aid (oxygen).
"After landing, there was an announcement from the flight crew that Aisyah binti Abdullah Nangroe had returned to the mercy of Allah," said H Abdullah AR, Head of the Ibnu Mas’ud Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group (KBIHU) in Aceh Province, who was part of flight group 07.
Before the group of pilgrims from flight group 07 disembarked from their seats, officers first removed the body of the deceased Aisyah. For medical purposes, the body was immediately taken to the Dr Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital (RSUZA) in Banda Aceh.
The Head of the Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) for the Aceh embarkation, Arijal, stated that Aisyah was a dhuyufurrahman (guest of Allah) who had completed the hajj pilgrimage, the fifth pillar of Islam. He prayed that Allah would accept all her acts of worship, forgive her mistakes and sins, make her grave spacious, and place her in the best of places.
According to information obtained, with the passing of Aisyah Abdullah Nanggroe, the total number of pilgrims from the "Veranda of Mecca" who have died has reached 16. Of that number, 15 died while in Saudi Arabia, and one breathed her last on the return flight while about to land at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport in Aceh Besar.
