Elderly commits suicide in Serang

SERANG, Banten: Residents in Cinangka subdistrict here were socked as a 65-year old man was found on Monday hanging on a plastic cable at a hut near his farmland.

The old man, identified only as Rak, was believed to commit a suicide because he was embarrassed by his son Ahmad who was attacked and nabbed by villagers in Ranca Senggol for killing his wife.

25-year old Ahmad reportedly killed his wife Onayah, 21, after having refused to have sex with him on day time.

Villagers said embarrassed Rak had always tried to avoid talks with neighbors since the incident took place on Friday.

"Based on the result of investigation, there was no signs of maltreatment against Rak. It was purely a suicide," Cilegon police chief detective Edi Irianto said. --Antara
