Elderly Australian Man Found Dead in Sanur Villa Bathroom

An elderly Australian man, identified by the initials PA (80), was found dead in a villa in the Sanur area of Denpasar on Thursday (16/7/2026). The foreign national was discovered lifeless in the bathroom by his wife, identified as SNS (68).

“He is suspected to have died from illness and age-related factors,” said the head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Denpasar Police, First Inspector Azel Arisandi, in a written statement on Friday (17/7/2026).

Prior to the incident, SNS had left the villa for a walk at 9.30 a.m. local time, leaving her husband alone. She returned to the villa around 11.30 a.m. Shortly after, she realised the villa was quiet and could not see her husband. She called out his name but received no answer. SNS then checked on PA and found him deceased.

“Upon entering, the witness saw the victim lying on his back on the floor in front of the bathroom, wearing only underwear, and suspected he had already passed away,” Azel stated.

A friend of SNS arrived at the villa around 1.00 p.m. to assist in checking on the victim and reported the incident to the police. The crime scene investigation found PA with his right hand folded across his chest and his left hand straight by his side. The victim was shirtless and wearing only underwear that had slipped down. “There were no signs of violence on the victim’s body,” Azel added.

Police also discovered several types of medication belonging to PA, including Melobic 7.5, Prebalin, Comfarol Forte, Telmisartan Sandoz, Antenex Diazepam, and Alodom Nitrazepam. The body was evacuated by the Denpasar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) team to Prof Ngoerah General Hospital.
