El Yaqin Foundation Committed to Providing Free Education for Underprivileged Children
The El Yaqin Foundation, which oversees the Bina Cendekia Islamic Kindergarten and Primary School (SDI-BC) in Kedaung, Pamulang, South Tangerang, has reaffirmed its commitment to providing free school programmes for underprivileged communities. This initiative is part of the foundation’s dedication to ensuring high-quality education for the poor.
“Free schooling for children from low-income or economically weak backgrounds is a small act of charity that I intend as alms. We must never stop helping them so they can learn and guide them towards becoming knowledgeable individuals,” stated the Chairman of the El Yaqin Foundation, Nurul Yaqin, during a farewell ceremony for final-year students at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Training Centre in Ciputat, South Tangerang, last week.
According to Nurul Yaqin, the foundation plans to increase the quota for free school participants in the future. Currently, approximately 40 kindergarten and primary school students are enrolled in the programme. “Moving forward, we hope to be able to prepare dedicated classes specifically for underprivileged children,” he added.
He also expressed hope that graduates of Bina Cendekia, with the support of their parents, would maintain their knowledge and love for the Al-Qur’an. Nurul emphasised the importance of instilling religious values through practical actions and real-life examples.
On the same occasion, Nurul Yaqin expressed his appreciation to teachers and parents for their excellent cooperation in improving the quality of education at Bina Cendekia. He also offered apologies for any shortcomings in the school’s services.
“Hopefully, we can continue to improve both the quantity and quality of Bina Cendekia schools together,” he concluded.
The farewell ceremony was both solemn and lively. An emotional atmosphere filled the room as students performed the ‘sungkeman’ tradition (a gesture of respect to parents) as a sign of gratitude for their graduation.
The event also featured group recitations of the Al-Qur’an by kindergarten and primary students, as well as musical performances for the teachers. Additionally, students presented a musical drama and dance themed around ‘Stop Bullying’ and campaigns for a healthy, waste-free lifestyle.
