El Niño strengthens, nation focuses on maintaining water availability and managing forest fires

Heatwaves resulting from El Niño are beginning to impact various parts of the world. Within the country, forest and land fires have also started to occur, particularly in Sumatra and Kalimantan.

In addition to fires, drought is another ecological disaster emerging. Several regions in Java, such as Temanggung, Sukoharjo, Lumajang, and Banten, as well as areas outside Java including West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and Bangka Belitung, are beginning to experience clean water crises.

The President has summoned several heads of ministries and relevant agencies to provide briefings and input aimed at mitigating the impacts of El Niño.
