El Niño Strengthens, Aceh Besar Farmers Face Drought Threat

Cracks have begun to appear in a number of paddy fields in Aceh Besar. Despite the diminishing water supply, farmers are still planting rice, hoping the season will still favour them. The prolonged drought affecting the region has begun to disrupt agricultural activities and threatens harvest yields. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) for Aceh has also warned that most of the Aceh region has entered the dry season, while the El Niño phenomenon is expected to reach strong intensity until January 2027.
