Ekonid to hold symposium
JAKARTA (JP): German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Ekonid), in cooperation with Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany's most developed state, will hold a technical symposium here from March 19 to 20.
Ekonid's head of Trade and Cooperation, Andreas E Warburg, said that during the symposium, machinery producers from the German state would present the latest information about technology and producing machinery.
He said many of the producers were pioneers in machinery production. Their innovations include the latest technology of metal molding with CNC, laser marking, and hydroforming.
Machinery production, situated mainly in Baden-wurttemberg, is Germany's largest industrial sector with about a million workers and US$160 billion in sales last year.
He said the state's Minister of Economics and Deputy Prime Minister Walter Doring would also visit Indonesia.
The minister is scheduled to officially break the ground for the construction of a 200 hectare German business center in Bumi Serpong Damai, about 25 kilometers west of Jakarta. (bnt)
