Eko Suwanto Praises Posyandu and Family Support Team Cadres for Reducing Stunting Rates in Yogyakarta

Eko Suwanto, chair of Commission A of the Yogyakarta Regional House of Representatives from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle faction, has praised the dedication of Posyandu cadres and Family Support Team members in Yogyakarta’s push to accelerate stunting intervention programmes.

The appreciation was expressed during a baby and toddler weighing session at Posyandu Lengkuas 7, RW 07 Muja Muju, in the Umbulharjo district of Yogyakarta City, on Monday 16 March 2026.

“Thank you to all posyandu cadres, family support teams, and PKK members. Yogyakarta’s stunting rate has been reduced through the acceleration programme for stunting intervention,” Eko stated.

“Alhamdulillah, thanks to the hard work of Posyandu cadres and Family Support Teams supported by health centres and village administrators, stunting rates have dropped from 14.8% in December 2025 to 8.4% in December 2026. Our hope is that with 120 million rupiah allocated per village in 2026, stunting rates will decline further to 4% by the end of 2026,” he continued.

During the routine activity, residents also participated in baby weighing sessions and health checks for pregnant and nursing mothers. On this occasion, Eko distributed packages of eggs and processed fish products to residents to support family nutritional needs.

According to Eko, the 120 million rupiah budget allocation per village is expected to strengthen stunting reduction programmes at the village level going forward.

“Do not forget to pay attention to nutritional components when feeding toddlers. For pregnant mothers, it is important to regularly check your pregnancy condition to stay healthy until delivery, so both baby and mother remain healthy,” he concluded.
