Eko Suwanto: Eid al-Adha a Catalyst for Boosting Social Solidarity
DPC PDI Perjuangan Jogja distributed 553 sacrificial meat packages to the public during Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. DPC PDI Perjuangan Jogja Chairman Eko Suwanto stated that Eid al-Adha is an opportunity to foster sincerity, unity, and mutual assistance in helping the community. The distribution followed the slaughter of five cattle and five goats at the DPC PDI Perjuangan Jogja office on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
“There is a spirit of selfless sharing, togetherness, and mutual cooperation. We cannot live alone. We urge the government to structure the regional budget to stimulate the people’s economy,” Suwanto said in a written statement received by detikJogja on Saturday.
According to Suwanto, the sacrifice values taught during Eid al-Adha should guide party cadres in their struggle for the community. He believes political participation must be seen as a genuine effort to help others.
He noted that amid global crises and ongoing economic challenges, Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder of the importance of social care and solidarity.
“Eid al-Adha is a collective momentum to revive the economy from crisis impacts. PDI Perjuangan calls on all cadres to use the spirit of selflessness and mutual cooperation as a foundation to bring happiness and prosperity to the people,” he added.
Meanwhile, DPC PDI Perjuangan Jogja’s Religious Affairs Deputy Chairman Puji Widodo said the distribution of hundreds of sacrificial meat packages reflects the party’s concern for the community.
“Alhamdulillah this year, DPC PDI Perjuangan Jogja distributed 553 sacrificial meat packages to the community and those entitled to receive them. This is PDI Perjuangan’s ongoing effort to share, and we hope it continues as the party structure and cadres work for humanity,” Puji said.
The slaughter and distribution involved Baitul Muslimin Indonesia (Bamusi) Jogja, Baguna Jogja, and Satgas Andika Wiratama. The event was attended by DPC PDI Perjuangan Jogja officials and representatives from DPD PDI Perjuangan DIY.
Bamusi Jogja Head Muhammad Tholib hoped the event would strengthen social care and sharing spirit among the community.
“This can serve as a message from PDI Perjuangan to foster care and selfless sharing during Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah,” he said.
DPD PDI Perjuangan DIY Deputy Chairman RB Dwi Wahyu praised the party cadres’ spirit of selfless sacrifice, saying it drives PDI Perjuangan’s service to the community.
“There is a spirit of selfless sacrifice. This can drive PDI Perjuangan’s every step in serving the community,” he added.
