Investigators from the South Sulawesi Police have examined eight individuals as witnesses in connection with the case of the death of Bripda DP (19), who allegedly experienced violence while at the Samapta Barracks of the South Sulawesi Police.

In this case, investigators have named one person as a suspect, Bripda P, who is the victim’s senior.

“From the ongoing process, there are eight people who have been questioned as witnesses related to the victim,” said the Chief of South Sulawesi Police, Inspector General of Police Djuhandhani Raharjo Puro, on Thursday (February 26).

This two-star general stated that of the eight witnesses questioned, four were located next to the victim’s bed in the barracks.

“The four witnesses stated that on the night in question, the victim was not sleeping in the barracks but was outside sleeping separately with other colleagues,” he said.

From the eight witnesses, investigators have not yet found direct involvement in the alleged murder case of Bripda DP.

However, two members are facing ethical proceedings for allegedly committing violations.

“We are still investigating, but there are two people suspected of, or who we are subjecting to, disciplinary or code of ethics proceedings. We believe that Bripda MS cleaned up the blood to prevent anyone from knowing about the incident,” he explained.

Furthermore, investigators also received information that one member of the Samapta Polda South Sulawesi witnessed the incident directly but did not report it.

“Therefore, that member will face disciplinary and code of ethics proceedings. The results of the autopsy have been released, and this incident was not a gang attack but an act of assault,” he said.
