Eight Ticket Touts at Mandalika Terminal in Mataram Arrested by Police
Eight ticket touts at Mandalika Terminal in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), have been taken into custody by police. All of the touts are residents of Mataram City with initials J, I, A, T, MR, B, FES, and DH.
“They are suspected of frequently engaging in ticket tout practices and activities that disturb passengers and official agents at the terminal,” said AKP I Made Dharma Yulia Putra, Head of Criminal Investigation at Mataram Police, on Sunday (15/3/2026).
The ticket touts were apprehended during a patrol conducted by a joint team from Sandubaya Police Sector, Criminal Investigation Unit at Mataram Police, and the Special Crimes Task Force of the West Nusa Tenggara Police Regional Command, on Sunday. Police will also coordinate with relevant agencies to determine appropriate guidance measures.
“We will provide them with guidance and warnings so they do not repeat their actions. Should they engage in similar conduct again, we will take action in accordance with applicable law,” Dharma added.
Dharma explained that the patrol was conducted following public complaints regarding the prevalence of ticket touts and racketeering at Mandalika Terminal. He noted that the presence of these touts has frequently caused disputes with official ticket agents and passengers alike.
According to him, the enforcement operation is part of Operation Ketupat Rinjali 2026, which is focused on securing the Eid homecoming flow. This is intended to ensure the safety and comfort of residents when using public transportation.
“This activity is not only conducted at the terminal but also in shopping areas, tourist attractions, and other crowded locations to provide a sense of security to the public ahead of the religious holiday,” Dharma said.
He urged residents to report any disturbing activities or potential security threats. “The public can immediately contact emergency services at 110 if they encounter unsafe situations in their surroundings,” he concluded.
