Eight suspects shot in Cirebon
CIREBON, West Java: Local police shot eight alleged criminals
who are suspected to have committed numerous crimes in Sumber
village over the weekend in the process of arresting them.
None of the injuries incurred were deemed to be life-
threatening.
The eight suspects, identified only as Ae, Bd, KH, GB, UJ, DI,
OE and PO, were shot while apparently attempting to resist
arrest.
Adj. Sr. Comr. Ricardo Hutauruk, chief of the Sumber Police
Precinct, said that the eight had been the police's number one
target since they were suspected of frequently being involved in
many alleged robberies in the subdistrict.
"They will be brought to court (after medical treatment) and
punished in line with the crimes they have committed," he said
here on Monday
He added that the police would remain steadfast against
criminals in order to maintain the security and public order on
the eve of Idul Fitri and Christmas. --Antara
