Serang (ANTARA) - The Serang Regency Transportation Agency in Banten has recorded positive progress in efforts to improve traffic safety, with eight permanent guard posts and railway crossing gates now operational and meeting standard procedures. The Head of the Serang Regency Transportation Agency, Benny Yuarsa, stated in Serang on Thursday that the enhancement of facilities at these eight locations represents a tangible manifestation of strong synergy between the regency government and the provincial government in protecting the community. “Out of a total of 15 county road level crossings under our management, eight now have permanent post buildings and gates. The construction of these standard facilities is the result of assistance from the provincial government,” said Benny. To ensure all crossings are safe for public use, the Serang Regency Transportation Agency has dedicated 95 personnel distributed across the 15 sites. “For the seven sites still needing permanent construction, we have addressed them by deploying personnel as per our obligations. The guarding is divided into three shifts, so each site is watched by approximately six personnel on rotation to close the gates when trains pass,” he explained. “We have prepared and submitted proposals for assistance to build those permanent facilities to the provincial level and also to the Ministry of Transportation,” added Benny. While awaiting the realisation of the subsequent construction, Benny assured that field personnel readiness will not slacken and they will continue to be instructed to maintain discipline in guarding the crossings for the safety of residents’ lives.
