Eight rob bank in Bogor
BOGOR (JP): Eight men broke into a branch office of state Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) on Jl. Pasir Muncang Km 18, in Cijeruk early yesterday morning, startling four security guards and making off with a safe.
Eman Sulaeman, one of the security guards, said the robbers -- armed with a crowbar and machetes -- broke into the office at 2 a.m.
"We were sitting in the security post in front of the office when the crooks suddenly broke the front door," Eman recalled.
The security guards could do nothing since the robbers threatened to kill them if they screamed for help, he said.
The burglars tied up the security guards with a cable after they stole the security guards' wristwatches and money, he said.
The security guards managed to release the cable and reported the case to the police after the robbers escaped, he said.
Eman said the police found a saw and two machetes at the scene which were believed to belong to the robbers. (24/jun)
