Eight People, Including Three Doctors, Examined Over Toddler's Death After CT Scan
At least eight individuals have been questioned regarding alleged malpractice that resulted in the death of a three-year-old child at Prambanan Regional Hospital (RSUD Prambanan). Of the eight people examined, three are doctors.
“As of now, eight people have been asked to provide clarification,” stated the Head of Public Relations for the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kombes Ihkan, in a statement on Friday (12/06/2026).
Two of the doctors under investigation are from RSUD Prambanan, while the third is a doctor from a private clinic. The interrogations have been conducted from last week through to this week.
“Last week, the Yogyakarta Regional Police requested clarification from five people, and this week, three more individuals have been questioned. These include one doctor from the referring clinic and two doctors from RSUD Prambanan,” he explained.
He continued, noting that the case is currently still in the investigation stage.
“Regarding the alleged malpractice case at RSUD Prambanan, it is currently still under investigation,” he concluded.
It was previously reported that a mother named Anastacia Niken Purwandari (36), a resident of Bantul, reported the person in charge of RSUD Prambanan and a doctor to the Yogyakarta Regional Police for alleged malpractice. In this case, Anastacia’s biological child, Naura Dwi Medita Putri (3), passed away after undergoing a CT scan.
The report was filed on 17 May 2026, under report number LP/B/319/V/2026/SPKT/Polda DIY. Niken, accompanied by her legal counsel, subsequently visited the Yogyakarta Regional Police for further examination.
“This is a follow-up to the initial examination regarding the police report concerning alleged medical negligence, as regulated under the Health Law and the Consumer Protection Law,” said one of the victim’s legal representatives, Purnomo Susanto, when met by journalists at the Yogyakarta Regional Police on Tuesday (02/06).
He explained that the case began when his client’s child, Naura Dwi Medita Putri (3), underwent follow-up examinations at RSUD Prambanan on the morning of 27 April 2026. This examination was a continuation of checks performed in March 2026, following a referral process that began at a Posyandu (community health centre), then a clinic, and finally RSUD Prambanan.
During the check-up on 27 March, the victim’s head circumference remained at 46 centimetres, which was considered insufficient for a child of her age. Based on the doctor’s diagnosis, the victim suffered from microcephaly. The doctor subsequently recommended a CT scan.
Prior to the CT scan, the hospital administration performed sedation to calm the child. According to information received, the victim received three sedation injections before proceeding with the CT scan.
Following the CT scan, the child suffered seizures and began vomiting blood. Medical staff immediately transferred the victim to the ICU; however, the child could not be saved.
