Eight People, Including Three Doctors, Examined Over Toddler's Death After CT Scan

At least eight people have been examined regarding suspected malpractice that resulted in the death of a three-year-old child at Prambanan Regional Public Hospital (RSUD Prambanan). Of the eight people examined, three are doctors. ‘To date, eight people have been asked for clarification,’ said the Head of Public Relations for the Yogyakarta Special Region Police (Polda DIY), Commissioner Ihsan, in a statement on Friday (12/6/2026). Two of the doctors examined work at RSUD Prambanan, while the other one is from a clinic. The examinations have been conducted since last week and continued this week. ‘Last week, Polda DIY requested clarification from five people, and this week three more have been asked for clarification. Namely, one doctor from the referring clinic and two doctors from RSUD Prambanan,’ he explained. He added that the case remains under investigation. ‘The case of alleged malpractice at RSUD Prambanan is currently still in the investigation phase,’ he concluded. Previously reported, a mother named Anastacia Niken Purwandari (36), a resident of Bantul, reported the responsible party at RSUD Prambanan and a doctor to Polda DIY for alleged malpractice. In that case, Anastacia’s biological child, Naura Dwi Medita Putri (3), died after undergoing a CT scan. The report was filed on 17 May 2026, with report number LP/B/319/V/2026/SPKT/Polda DIY. Niken, accompanied by her legal team, later visited Polda DIY for follow-up questioning. ‘This is a follow-up to the initial examination related to the police report concerning alleged medical negligence as stipulated in the Health Law and the Consumer Protection Law,’ said one of the victim’s legal counsels, Purnomo Susanto, when met by journalists at Polda DIY on Tuesday (2/6). He explained that the case began when his client’s child, Naura Dwi Medita Putri (3), underwent a follow-up examination at RSUD Prambanan on the morning of 27 April 2026. The examination was a follow-up to a check-up conducted in March 2026 after Naura received a tiered referral from a community health post (Posyandu), a clinic, and finally to RSUD Prambanan. During a check-up on 27 March, the victim’s head circumference remained at 46 centimetres, which was still considered below the norm for a child her age. A doctor diagnosed the victim with microcephaly and then recommended a CT scan. Prior to the CT scan procedure, the hospital performed sedation to calm the victim. Based on information received, the victim received three sedation injections before undergoing the CT scan. After the CT scan process, the victim experienced seizures and vomited blood. Medical personnel promptly moved the victim to the ICU, but her life could not be saved.
