Eight People, Including Deputy Minister Silmy Karim, Detained by the KPK
The eight individuals who have been directly detained in this case are as follows:
Deputy Minister of Immigration for 2025-2026 and Director General of Immigration for 2023-2024, Silmy Karim (SK)
Acting Director General of Immigration for 2024-2025, Saffar Muhammad Godam (SMG)
Director of Residence Permits and Immigration Status at the Directorate General of Immigration, Jaya Saputra (JS)
Head of the Sub-Directorate for Transfer of Residence Permits at the Directorate of Residence Permits and Immigration Status, Directorate General of Immigration, Tessar Bayu Setyaji (TBS)
Head of Sub-Directorate at the Directorate of Residence Permits, Bagus Bramantyo (BGS)
Head of the Jakarta Pusat Immigration Office for 2024-2025 and Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Jakarta Barat Immigration Office for 2025-2026, Ronald Arman Abdullah (RAA)
Head of the ITAS Transfer Team, Juniadi Sri Priambudi (JSP)
Staff of the Sub-Directorate of Residence Permits, Gusti Benardiansyah (GST)
The KPK’s spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, explained that the eight individuals have been officially designated as suspects. This designation is supported by sufficient evidence obtained by investigators.
“Based on sufficient evidence, the KPK has also designated eight individuals as suspects from the total of 18 people who were apprehended during the sting operation,” Budi said to reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in South Jakarta, Thursday (June 4, 2026).
Budi stated that the eight suspects were immediately detained. The detention will be for the first 20 days at the KPK’s Merah Putih branch detention center.
The eight suspects are being charged under Article 12e in connection with alleged corruption related to extortion in the processing of immigration documents. They are also being charged under Article 12B or for receiving other benefits or gratuities.
