Eight defendants in the alleged extortion case involving the processing of Foreign Worker Utilisation Plans (RPTKA) at the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower are scheduled to undergo a verdict hearing at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday. The verdict hearing will be chaired by Judge Lucy Ermawati and is planned to begin at 10:00 WIB.

The eight defendants consist of former Director General of Binapenta and PKK for the 2020-2023 period, Suhartono, as well as three staff from the Directorate of Foreign Worker Utilisation Control (PPTKA), namely Putri Citra Wahyoe, Jamal Shodiqin, and Alfa Eshad.

The other defendants are Devi Angraeni, who serves as Coordinator for PPTKA Approval Feasibility Testing and Director of PPTKA for the 2024-2025 period, Gatot Widiartono, as well as two other officials, Haryanto and Wisnu Pramono.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor demanded prison sentences for the eight defendants ranging from four years to nine years and six months. In addition to corporal punishment, the defendants are also demanded to pay fines starting from Rp150 million to Rp700 million with subsidiary imprisonment provisions.

Not only that, seven defendants, excluding Suhartono, are also demanded to pay significant restitution amounts. Haryanto is demanded to pay Rp84.72 billion, Wisnu Rp25.2 billion, Gatot Rp9.48 billion, Devi Rp3.25 billion, Putri Rp6.39 billion, Jamal Rp551.16 million, and Alfa Rp5.24 billion.

In the case that occurred between 2017 and 2025, the defendants are accused of extorting RPTKA permit processing agents with a total of Rp135.29 billion.

In addition to money, the defendants are also alleged to have received goods in the form of one unit of Innova Reborn car and one unit of Vespa Primavera 150 ABS A/T motorcycle.

Prosecutors state that the defendants forced employers or RPTKA permit processing agents to hand over certain amounts of money or goods. If not fulfilled, the permit applications would not be processed.

For their actions, the defendants are charged under the provisions of the Eradication of Corruption Crimes Law in conjunction with the Criminal Code (KUHP).
