Eight Members of Kepri Police Headquarters Questioned in Case of Officer’s Death at Barracks
Eight members of the Direktorat Samapta at Polda Kepulauan Riau (Kepri) have been questioned in connection with the suspected death of Bripda Natanale Simanungkalit at the Polda Kepri barracks on Monday (13/4). Kepri Police Chief Irjen Asep Safruddin stated that the examination is being conducted by the Propam unit to investigate the suspected death due to assault by a senior officer. “The preliminary suspicion is that (he was assaulted by a senior) based on the results of the examination of the suspect and several other witnesses,” he said when contacted via short message on Tuesday (14/4). He explained that of the total eight people examined, one is suspected of being the perpetrator of the assault that led to the victim’s death. “Propam has secured eight members of Polda Samapta, one person is suspected as the perpetrator. The others are still undergoing further investigation,” he added. Furthermore, Asep said that the autopsy process is currently ongoing at Bhayangkara Hospital to confirm the cause of the victim’s death. On the other hand, he emphasised that the investigation and inquiry process is still being conducted by examining several witnesses. “The handling will be carried out firmly in accordance with procedures, both ethical codes and general criminal law,” he concluded. Previously, a member of Polda Kepri Samapta was reported dead at the Polda Kepri barracks flats on Monday (13/4). The victim was Bripda Natanael Simanungkalit, who had been on duty since the end of 2025.
