Eight local govts given awards

SURABAYA: Seven regencies and a municipality in East Java were named best administrations in terms of public services this year.

The decision was announced by East Java Governor Imam Oetomo on Monday during a ceremony in Surabaya, to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the Indonesian Civil Servant Association (KORPRI). The eight administrations are part of the total of 38 regencies and municipalities in East Java province.

The seven regency winners were Sidoarjo, Lamongan, Madiun, Tulungagung, Pasuruan, Bojonegoro and Malang, while the municipality to win was the capital, Surabaya.

They won because they had the best innovations in public service delivery and best complaint handling, said Imam. -- Antara
